Volvo announces that all EX90 electric cars will be sold until 2024
The latest reports revealed that Volvo has managed to sell all EX90 electric cars until 2024.
It turns out that multimillion-dollar supercars and limited-edition sports cars aren't the only ones that sell out in a matter of seconds.
Family cars can also sell out just as quickly. Proof of this is Volvo, which swept consumers with its new EX90 electric car, so that first year production was completely sold out.
The Volvo EX90 was unveiled last year and will serve as an electric-only replacement for the larger XC90, which comes with internal combustion or hybrid options.
The price of the Volvo EX90 starts at $80,000, but this fact did not discourage buyers from placing bids with dealers and grabbing the small number of cars available in the first year of production.
The manufacturer declared: “Customer reaction exceeded what the company had anticipated internally. Accordingly, the Swedish company Volvo has closed the reception of orders for the time being because the scheduled initial production has been sold out, but orders will be opened again soon.
The EX90 is built on the SPA2 electric platform of parent company Geely, which is the same platform as the Polestar 3.
And while the Polestar gets only five seats, the Volvo EX90 gets a third row to increase capacity to seven.
The basic models of the car get two electric motors with a four-wheel drive system that delivers 402 hp with 770 Nm of torque, and there is a performance version that offers 510 hp with 910 Nm of torque.
Volvo did not mention the acceleration of the base model but claims that the performance version can reach a speed of 100 km per hour in 4.7 seconds.
Both versions feature a 107 kWh battery that can be charged at 250 kWh and deliver up to 580 km according to EU standards.
Being a Volvo, the EX90 places great emphasis on safety and comes equipped with a long-range lidar, five radars, eight cameras and 16 ultrasonic sensors.
There are plenty of additional in-cab technologies including a 14.5-inch central infotainment screen with Google Assistant integration.
